I love this part of the holidays, but not because of Black Friday or Cyber Monday; it's to get involved in sharing the love for giving this season on Giving Tuesday.
Every year my family and I (and even my team when I worked at my corporate job) partake in giving back in some way, shape or form. We enjoy spending quality time together and giving to others in need. We've participated in every way we possibly can to make someone else's holidays special.
The reason we are so passionate about giving back, is because our family was once in the same shoes. Struggling with poverty and trying to make ends meet; we were often trying to find a way to put food on the table let alone buy Christmas gifts for our children.
I promised through my faith that WHEN I get out of poverty and living on welfare, I would return the favor and give all I can and all I have to those who need it most. I do feel incredibly blessed to be able to overcome our situation and circumstances, and I want to impact as many lives as possible and share the hope so many of them have lost. I remember losing hope in humanity, losing hope in myself, and losing hope that I would ever get out of hitting rock bottom.
So here we are purchasing and donating toys to children who have been neglected, abused, or are homeless. We've also donated blankets to the elderly, we've wrapped gifts for families in need, and we've served food to the homeless all here in the Las Vegas valley. There are lots of ways you can give back and help, I recommend asking your church, work, or Google searching ways to give back.
And there are organizations out there who are cheerfully doing the same — this year, T-Mobile set aside more than $2 million dollars for Giving Tuesday – and in typical Un-carrier fashion, they’ve empowered their customers, fans, employees (and yes, even Verizon and AT&T customers) to decide where it goes! As a T-Mobile Ambassador, I have learned about different ways that T-Mobile helps to give back – and in this case – supporting Giving Tuesday!
Join us for our Twitter party (slated for 11/29 at 9pm ET), because T-Mobile will provide five (5) $100 Benevity Gift Code prizes during the Twitter party that winners can use to give to a charity of their choice!
And T-Mobile believes that EVERYONE should have the opportunity to give back in whatever way is meaningful to them, so they’ve created an easy way for people to participate.
Here’s how it works:
If you’re a T-Mobile customer: On Giving Tuesday (11/27) via the TMT app, customers will get the chance to give $1 on us to Feeding America ($1=10 meals) — plus, you can text-to-give as well. You will also get the chance to win a gift code you can use donate to your favorite charity.
Everyone: Every time you retweet @TMobile’s Giving Tuesday tweet on 11/27, T-Mobile will donate $1 (10 meals) to Feeding America.
T-Mobile Employees: On Giving Tuesday, T-Mobile will deposit $27 in every T-Mobile employees Giving Account which they can donate to any charity of their choice. T-Mobile will match any additional donations on behalf of employees.
T-Mobile’s commitment to giving goes far beyond just one day! Through programs supporting disaster relief, youth education, sustainability, hunger in America and more … PLUS employee matching and volunteer programs … we’ve given more than $8M and 34,000 volunteer hours have been donated to local and national organizations in 2018 alone – and we’re just kicking off our busiest giving season of the year! #WeWontStop! #GivingOnUs
“We love giving back during the holiday season and this Giving Tuesday we want our customers, fans and employees to do their #GivingOnUs!” said John Legere, CEO of T-Mobile. “We’re making it easy. We’re putting more than $2M in their hands and giving them the opportunity to donate to some amazing organizations that will make a huge difference in our communities.
The Un-carrier’s commitment to charitable giving goes far beyond just one day. So far in 2018, T-Mobile has donated more than $8 million and offered more than 34,000 volunteer hours to organizations that support youth, veterans, the environment, disaster recovery, ending hunger in America and more. This doesn’t even include donations to come from our Giving Tuesday campaign this year – which kicks off our busiest giving season of all!
