We were invited to have dinner and meet the down to earth, outgoing, and Star Wars geek loving Vanessa Marshall who is the voice of Hera on the highly anticipated Star Wars Rebels! I was invited as media to attend this all expense paid trip in exchange for my coverage. All opinions are my own.
As I was saying…we (myself and 24 other top bloggers) had the opportunity to meet THE Vanessa Marshall who plays the voice of Hera on the highly anticipated Star Wars Rebels, premiering this fall on Disney XD. We joined Vanessa for dinner at Preston’s Restaurant inside Loew’s Hotel Hollywood for Star Wars Day (you know, May The Fourth which was a fun way to spin May The Force Be With You), while interviewing Vanessa on her role in the new series.
We learned a lot of fun and fascinating new things about Vanessa Marshall and discovered that she is the daughter of famous actress Joan Van Ark (Dallas). She felt she could relate to Luke Skywalker throughout the original trilogy because as Luke’s dad was taken away to the dark side, she saw the entertainment industry do the same for her mom. She was approached during her career in stand-up comedy and suggested that she do voice-over and voila! Here she is now part of Disney and playing this amazing role that suits her perfectly as Hera in Star Wars Rebels (she admits, she’s obsessed and is a die hard Star Wars geek – a “bionic nerd” even). Even though she still ended up in the entertainment industry, she is now doing voice overs with other actors such as Freddie Prinze, Jr.
I loved that Vanessa knew about all of our blogs, read and checked them out and said we were no joke – we’re the real deal! She’s so funny, but that’s awesome! The Star Wars Rebels cast includes Freddie Prinze Jr, Taylor Gray, and Tiya Sircar. I thought it was interesting that the cast participates in joint voice-overs together in one room! It’s their way of feeding off each other’s energy, and I honestly think that’s such a great idea!
It was a pretty amazing experience to witness Star Wars Day (#MaytheFourth) in person while we hung out with R2-D2 and a few of the Storm Troopers! Can’t wait to see Star Wars Rebels this fall.
