When I was growing up in Dallas, Texas sports were a big focus of entertainment. Baseball was such a big deal when I was a child, that our middle school would take us on field trips to the Texas Rangers Stadium where we toured the baseball field, locker rooms, training area and even got to meet some of their pro baseball players. Afterwards, we’d eat hot dogs and Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® for lunch on the bleachers and we were really living life! As a child living in a small town (Grand Prairie is where I grew up) and being in a place that seemed gigantic and unreal inspired me. I was THERE on that baseball field where, once-upon-a-time, the closest I could get to that field was watching the games on the television with my Dad. It’s funny how I associate baseball and Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® because of my field trip experiences as a child! And now that I’m a mom, I’m “Team Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats®” all the way with this sponsored post I’m participating in!
It inspired me to think big, and it was at a very early age where I learned that the world was so much bigger than I and what was directly around me – that I was a tiny fish in a big ocean, but if they (professional baseball players) can make a difference through hard work and perseverance, so can I. Baseball was my eye-opener to the motivation that sports played in my life that would later be utilized as an adult – building relationships, loyalty, hard work, training and gaining skills for success. I mean, seriously, these can be applied in EVERY aspect of our lives, right?! We can learn a lot from sports in our marriages, raising children, careers, health, and our spiritual beliefs. Baseball and sports in general became more than just a game during those field trips, they became lessons of wisdom, and then turned into an innate desire to be successful.
My sons both enjoy playing baseball and it’s a treat that they eat Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Treats® as a snack after practice. The packages make for easy-to-eat treats that the boys can share with their teammates. It’s almost like a tradition to have them sitting around in a a circle on the grass after practice talking about practice, how they can improve, how well they did, what they are up to that week, and just hanging out and building camaraderie.
