  • 6 – 8 thick beef short ribs
  • ½ onion, sliced
  • ¼ C red wine
  • 2 C beef broth
  • 1 tsp garlic
  • as desired Montreal Steak Seasoning
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

  1. Season the beef ribs with the garlic and Montreal Steak Seasoning
  2. Sear in a hot frying pan on all sides
  3. Place in the slow cooker bowl and cover with the sliced onions
  4. Add in the red wine
  5. Add the beef broth to the fry pan to deglaze all the bits off the bottom of the pan. Stir it around to lift them off the pan and then add it all in to the slow cooker bowl.
  6. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or until very tender
  7. 20 minutes before the cooking time is complete, mix a slurry of the cornstarch.
  8. Remove the ribs temporarily, and water and add it in to the slow cooker bowl.
  9. Give it a good stir and add the ribs back in. Cover it up, and let it cook for an additional 20 minutes.
