If you haven’t heard about my special announcement I shared recently, I wanted to formally share it on the blog. Becoming an entrepreneur has always been a passion and dream of of mine ever since I was a little girl. I knew I would be an entrepreneur one day, but never knew how that would come to pass. And then The It Mom began seven years ago during a time where I was at rock bottom in my life. It’s original intent was to share my stories public as a way for me to process things, because that’s the only way I know how…is to write things out. I was and still am working a full-time corporate job while my blog was my side hustle.
Since then, The It Mom has become my business that has grown beyond measure of what I could have possibly fathomed. I turned it into a series limited liability company, submitted my application for trademark, and I now physically run by business like a REAL, legitimate business. It all came so naturally, but at the expense of many long nights and weekends working to build my empire.
Now after seven years, I can officially share that effective on April 6th, 2018 – I will be transitioning from my full-time to be a full-time entrepreneur! It all seems so crazy seeing my childhood dreams come to fruition, but it’s true. I gave my formal notice of resignation on December 2017. I extended my stay to help transition and train the new team before I leave. I’ve worked at the same gaming technology company for eight years as a Corporate Recruiter and have absolutely loved helping find the right candidates for the right job. But it’s time to transition and I’m at peace with my decision.
Thankfully, as I’ve grown, I’ve gained wisdom to learn that “you are the company you keep”. I reached out to friends who were doing it and doing it successfully, and asked for their advice and encouragement. It was also a great sense of comfort knowing that I wasn’t doing it alone, and there were others who I could relate with in the entrepreneurial world.
There’s an awesome contest happening on Instagram from now until February 28th by Intuit where they are looking for one grand prize winner who will receive a 4 day, 3 night trip for the winner and one guest to SXSW in Austin, TX. I would totally nominate my friend, Heidi Nazarudin as The Ambitionista, who is amazing in many ways. She’s been featured on Forbes, on the cover of fashion magazines in Malaysia, and is a total girl boss between her business as an influencer, creative marketing owner, and subscription box company. Her previous background was an executive turned influencer, and her credentials are impressive.
And Intuit – whew, Intuit totally blows my mind with all the ways they’ve helped with scaling my business that allows me to grow! Thanks to Intuit’s suite of products, especially Quickbooks and Mint, I am able to scale and focus on growing my business. If you’re an entrepreneur, friend of an entrepreneur, a mompreneur, or know of an amazing entrepreneur — I encourage you to enter the contest on Instagram now! Here are the deets…

Freedom Fry’s song, Girl on Fire, was the soundtrack to Intuit’s animated short film, “A Giant Story”:
In the film, you will see the inspiration for, and origin of, the first Intuit Giant. The Intuit Giant is a metaphor for the combined power of QuickBooks, TurboTax and Mint —– three great products that are even more powerful when used together. As the master brand over all three, Intuit provides giant resources for its users. By taking the same kind of big data, machine learning and artificial intelligence that runs fortune 500 companies and making it available to everyone, Intuit is like having a giant on your side.
