How I Did A Mini Bathroom Makeover Transformation That Took Me Back To Paradise

I’m almost embarrassed to admit this, but I’ve been living in my home for the last 3-years and have had zero time to focus on my master retreat bathroom. It’s such a shame too, because I have this beautiful over-sized bathtub that’s been collecting dust in the corner of my bathroom. It’s an eye sore, indeed, and happens to be the cornerstone piece that catches the most attention when you walk into my bathroom. When Clorox® reconnected for The It Mom to partner up and share about the new Clorox® Scentiva™ products, I started to feel hopeful about getting my house back in order again.

And since we’re being transparent, I should also share that I’ve been documenting my journey the last three weeks of how sloppy I had let my house become from traveling, working full-time, the holidays, and raising four children. It was a total disaster after coming back from our trip to Dallas over the holidays, because it looked like a tornado whirled through our whole home. Clothes were everywhere, trash was everywhere, and the thought of cleaning it all up seemed daunting to the core.

Dirty bathtub collecting dust

I’m not usually like this. I was once tidy, organized, and clean. But right now, I feel like I have allowed a dirty house to take over my life. But not anymore! NO! I will not live like this anymore! I think a part of me was so utterly disappointed with how far I let the mess go that I couldn’t stand it anymore and needed to make things happen. I decided to finally dust off the book I bought over a year ago on tidying up called: “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing” and read every page. I couldn’t put the book down – it sparked this fire within me to get back on track. And so, I did. And this is where the battle of total home makeover vs. The It Mom began…

The very first room we focused on for our home makeover was our dreaded and boring master bathroom. I haven’t used our bathtub once the whole time we’ve been living in this home the last three years. And as a working mom, I used to love to unwind with a hot bubble bath and good book after a long, stressful day at the office. Imagine that — no quiet, me-time for me in the bathtub for THREE YEARS.

All clean!

The bathroom was super empty and cold looking – and it needed furniture badly (just like every room in the house, your bathroom has needs too). And it needed a good scrub and deep clean — especially the bathtub! When I unboxed the package, I immediately began using all the new Clorox® Scentiva™ products. The Pacific Breeze and Coconut™ line of Clorox® Scentiva™ smells SO good! The scent alone took me back to paradise – I felt so tropical-ly! All these happy memories of being on the beaches of Jamaica and Turks and Caicos all started coming back to me, and not to mention the clean feeling of using Clorox® products!

First, I used the Clorox® Scentiva™ Multi-purpose spray for my sink handle, countertops, the top of my toilet and on the door handles and light switches. Next, I used the Clorox® Scentiva™ Bathroom Disinfecting Foamer Spray on my shower, bathtub, and glazed tile to remove mold and mildew stains, soap scum, rust and grime. And finally, I used the Clorox® Scentiva™ Toilet Cleaning Gel to clean, sanitize and remove stains from my toilet bowl. Did you know that the Clorox® Scentiva™ Toilet Cleaning Gel kills 99.9 percent of viruses and bacteria, including Staph and Kleb?! Wow!

After a major deep clean in my master bathroom, it inspired me to decorate it into a paradise oasis. I bought a wood organization cabinet, home decor accessories, and a custom made rustic farmhouse-style shabby chic ladder rack and hanging wall shelf made from wood pallets locally here in Las Vegas. It’s so, so cute! My finishing touches were decorating my hanging wall shelf with our own personal pieces of paradise by adding in souvenirs and keepsakes we bought when we traveled to Jamaica and Turks and Caicos.

I definitely needed to do all of this and all thanks to the help of Clorox® Scentiva™ Pacific Breeze and Coconut™ products! We all need products that are easy-to-use and effective, all while making our bathroom smell amazing! Tada! All clean and shiny…and now my toilet smells like coconuts too! Haha! You shouldn’t have to choose between products that are effective and products that smell good. I learned that Clorox® Scentiva™ products work hard to kill bacteria and viruses on hard, non-porous surfaces, delivering the disinfecting power you trust to help keep your home clean and limit germs. Clorox® Scentiva™ products provide the trusted cleaning and disinfecting power of your favorite Clorox products with amazing destination-inspired scents, such as Hawaiian Sunshine, Tuscan Lavender and Jasmine and now, Pacific Breeze & Coconut™, to improve the cleaning experience and transport your senses to an exotic escape. Clorox® Scentiva™ Pacific Breeze & Coconut™ brings the scent of pacific paradise into your home. It has a finishing blend of Tonka, sandalwood and vanilla paired with the with fresh tropical fruit to provide long lasting freshness and a serene space.

And for the first time EVER in my home, I was able to get my “me-time” after work with a nice hot bubble bath in my tub while listening to Pandora and reading my book. Ah! It’s the little things in life.
