Creativity and Fun For LEGO® on YouTube

I enjoy finding new ways to think outside the box and creating activities that will entice my children to stay focused on a project or task. My children love LEGO® and the way it keeps them occupied for hours with different ways to create objects or contraptions from blocks and pieces that connect. Even though both are different (one is creative and the other analytical), it is agreed within the little ones that LEGO® are the toy choice favorite when it comes to fun, new toy adventures.

LEGO® created a great list of videos for kids as a great way to keep kids entertained through YouTube videos created with themes such as Star War and The Hobbit. There was one situation where my kids were bouncing off the walls (who knew apple juice could make them so hyper). The fighting back and forth over toys and screaming was unbearable so to save face, I gathered them into the living room and showed them how to maneuver the LEGO® YouTube channel so they could watch the different videos. After one minute of getting settled, this was the outcome:

They were so consumed with the LEGO® YouTube videos that I was able to finish the household chores, do some blogging, plan my week, and even get dinner started! LEGO® saved the day! And once they were into the different videos, they even brought their LEGOs out to put them together and play together as a team. The children enjoyed the variety of LEGO® videos and because the videos ranged from one minute to five minutes or more, it was really easy to keep them occupied. I really like that the videos have bursts of colors to get their creative juices flowing, and also the music and information to learn about things like how the characters were designed for Star Wars was able to show them how pieces are put together (just like LEGO® toys).

Since the kids wanted to watch the same videos over and over again, we decided to create a LEGO® playlist for them so they can get to it right away when I’m logged into my YouTube account. Here’s a great infographic on how to create your own LEGO playlist too! It was really easy – here’s a link to five of the children’s favorite LEGO® YouTube videos that I added onto my own LEGO® playlist. You can go here to create your own LEGO® playlist too!

As a working mother on the go, it is important to have easy access to tools and digital media for the kids to enjoy on the road. Here are other reasons I enjoy the LEGO® YouTube Channel:

  • The new LEGO® YouTube channel has over 500 videos from a name you trust with more videos being added daily
  • Custom playlists are an easy way to build something special just for you and your child(ren)
  • Playlists are easily made from the Official LEGO® Channel and can be accessed anywhere you go by parents and children (in the care, at an airport, waiting in line, around the house, etc.)

Thank you to LEGO and Technorati for being sponsors. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective. All opinions expressed here are my own.
