Sleep may be the most under-rated activity we partake in when we think about improvement in our health and daily performance. We assume that it's only exercise and diet, but in reality, the way we sleep and the amount of sleep we get is just as important, if not THE most important. I recently made a visit to my doctor and one thing he brought up was how our generation would be so much healthier if everyone just slept more, and slept correctly – I totally agree!
We all have those days where we wake up so tired that it feels like we didn't even get any rest at all. We literally crawl out of bed, telling ourselves that we just need to wash up to “wakeup” and to take on the day. Before you know it, hours have passed and you start feeling more and more drained. Why is that? It's because you didn't get quality sleep!
If this sounds like you, then you sound like me! Well…how I used to be. Thankfully, this has changed. I used to be #TeamNoSleep. I felt that if I wanted to be successful- I had to work super hard and sacrifice a lot of rest – boy was I wrong! Yes, I saw the fruits of my labor, unfortunately, it also came with negative consequences that affected my health. Although I was getting a lot done, I wasn't happy because I was always too exhausted to enjoy my free time. This is when I realized I needed to change something.
The more sleep I gave up, the more my body grew accustomed to it, and when I eventually decided to start sleeping more it became difficult to fall asleep. I was dealing with this until I found ZzzQuil. I'm usually very hesitant when it comes to trying new health products, because I don't want to become dependent, but ZzzQuil is a non-habit-forming sleep-aid designed just to help with occasional sleeplessness, so I felt at ease. I was finally able to get rest – good rest! And, because of that, I noticed a huge difference in my daily overall performance. I wasn't waking up already exhausted and I had more energy throughout my work day without feeling drained after. I now find myself getting more tasks done. Not only am I more productive and happier, my image has improved. Believe it or not, when you're tired, you look tired! You can see it and other people see it.
Here are a few tips I want to share on how I was able to improve my sleeping habits:
1) Put in a good work out during the day. Your body may be tired, but it's a good tired.
2) Tidy up and prepare items for the following day. This will help put your mind at ease, so that both your mind and body are able to rest.
3) This next one is obvious but not always easy to follow. Stay away from snacks at night and drink water.
4) Doing away with electronics 30-minutes before bed will prepare your brain and eyes for sleep.
5) Taking a hot shower before laying down. Feeling fresh will help you sleep like a baby.
There are people who take sleep for granted, and there are those want to sleep more but can't. Whatever your situation, ZzzQuil can help you prioritize sleep. So along with developing a healthier diet and creating a fitness plan, make sure to include getting better sleep this new year! So whether it's at home or in your travel case, make sure you always have ZzzQuil handy. You'd be surprised by how much of a difference it makes.
