There are a lot of women in this world who have different stories to share to everyone. Just recently, I got a chance to listen to a fellow blogger's experiences and dreams through the Bridging The Gap Campaign. This campaign was created by Catherine Grace O'Connell. She is an LA-based Lifestyle/Fashion Blogger, Age Disrupter, Journalist, Radio Show Host and the founder of the Fierce 50 Revolution. Through her campaign, several bloggers coming from different age demographics got a chance to talk about their lives and learn life lessons from each other.
For Bridging the Gap Campaign, I was paired off with Ingred Chen. Our conversation was short and sweet but I really learned a lot from her. She is also a blogger who talks about health and wellness. One of the things that I couldn't forget about our interview was her advice which is to enjoy each moment and always be fully present. Check the rest of this article to learn more about Ingred Chen.
Where do you live currently?
I’m currently residing at Los Angeles.
What drew you to participate in the Bridging The Gap Campaign?
I love the idea. I wanted to connect with younger women to get inspired and learn from them.
What is your blog about?
I blog about health and wellness.
What led you to create your blog and blog niche?
Yoga helped me break free from my junk food/ sugar habit and be much healthier. I want to inspire and empower others to be healthy inside-out.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Hong Kong.
What was your childhood like?
I was overweight, called “fat” and bullied.
What was the happiest moment of your life? The saddest? What are you proudest of?
The happiest moment in my life was whenever I read a good book or get an idea to write a story. The saddest was being made fun of because of my weight. I'm proudest of my creativity.
Who has been the biggest influence on your life? What lessons did that person teach you?
My parents have the biggest influence in my life. They told me to be practical and stop dreaming when I shared that I wanted to be a writer. I'm proving them wrong.
If you could hold on to one memory from your life forever, what would that be?
The memory question is a hard one & I can't just choose one.
How has your life been different than what you’d imagined?
I never thought I'd be a yoga teacher. I was the “worst student” in class at first. I wasn't balanced, flexible, coordinated or White (most of the people in class when I started in 2003 were Caucasians). I became certified in 2007 & was still a minority in the yoga space. It felt strange to me because yoga originated in India (and became westernized).
Do you have any regrets?
My only regret is that I gave up on my first book & didn't get it published.
If this was to be our very last conversation, are there any words of wisdom you would want to impart to me?
Enjoy each moment, be fully present. Time is precious.
