Bloomingdales Give Pink, Get More #GivePink @SheSpeaksUp

*Disclosure: This is a sponsored post on behalf of Bloomingdales. I only participate in campaigns I believe in, and all opinions are 100% my own.

The world is tickled pink in October to make a difference. Why? It's Breast Cancer Awareness month! I have seen so many great organizations and charities reaching out and showing their support with all the awareness programs. I love the color pink. Whenever I see a pink ribbon or symbol, I think of courage, hope, femininity, strength, knowledge, influence, empowerment. Pink is such a powerful color.

Breast cancer is a sensitive topic to discuss, especially because there are millions of women affected with breast cancer today.  Here are the statistics I found on the Cancer.org website:

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women, except for skin cancers. About 1 in 8 (12%) women in the US will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime.

The American Cancer Society's estimates for breast cancer in the United States for 2013 are:

  • About 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women.
  • About 64,640 new cases of carcinoma in situ (CIS) will be diagnosed (CIS is non-invasive and is the earliest form of breast cancer).
  • About 39,620 women will die from breast cancer

Breast Cancer Awareness is an initiative to help women become informed, be proactive, take preventative measures, and help to find a cure! And in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Bloomingdale’s will fund research support and awareness programs at these three organizations: the Breast Cancer Research Foundation,® The Tutu Project™ benefiting The Carey Foundation and the Cancer Vixen Fund™ at Beth Israel Hospital.

Here's a rundown of the details:
