Back To School In Their Distinct Styles – That’s My Kid! #ThatsMyKid

We all have that one special purpose in life, and none of us are made or wired the same. It all starts when you’re a kid, and as parents, we want to embrace our children’s special accomplishments and uniqueness – to give them an opportunity to express themselves.

Thinking back to when I was a child, I remember how my parents encouraged all the things I did. They never expected me to be like the others and often pushed me to get out of my comfort zone and to set myself apart from the others. I’m glad I did. And now that I’ve got children of my own, I can see why they wanted me to be…well, me.

With billions of people in this world, it’s a fascinating thought that every single one of us are different in our own unique way. And the four children I’ve birthed are unique in their own way. As their mom, I would never expect them to be the same in any way, and I’ve encouraged them not to expect to be like others. Their different personalities, talents, skills, and traits are what keep our home buzzing and the adventures of our lives entertaining. They are uniquely made for a purpose in their lives, and it’s my job as a parent to help them see that and to say… “That’s my kid!”

It all starts with style…distinct style.
And each unique child has their own set of distinct styles that we should never put in a box. As a lover and advocate of style, I understand how limitless styles can be and kid’s style should be no different. With a variety of combinations, mixes and matches, colors, and designs – it’s such a great way to express each kid’s individuality and personality. When It Fits, You Feel It.

We partnered with JCPenney to shop for back to school clothes that bolster each of our child’s distinct styles. We wanted to focus on each of their unique accomplishments and individuality with the amazing variety JCPenney has to offer in clothes and styles to support their self-expression.

Juliana is my five year old kid model who can throw in a twist of hip-hop and make anything she wears look trendy and stylish.
JCP7

She doesn’t have to speak, because she can express herself in her movements and in her facial expressions.
JCP9

She’s always been one with style and grace and loves clothes – especially those with bold patterns and colors.

JCP4

She naturally poses as a model and has even expressed interest in modeling as early as the age of two. She sings, dances, and loves gymnastics and one thing she mastered at the age of four… beat boxing!

Jude is my outgoing and outspoken six year old athlete.
JCP13

He can literally try ANY sport and do it well. He loves soccer, basketball, baseball, and karate. He discovered the basketball at 6 months old and never let it go since!
JCP8

He speaks well and I see him in a leadership position when he’s older. At a very early age, Jude was already differentiating wrong from right and isn’t afraid to tell you when you’re not living with integrity.
JCP6

He loves comfortable and stylish outfits. My husband is a lover of men’s fashion, and I can honestly say it’s a trait he’s passed on to his son.

Jude LOVES shoes and is very particular with the outfits he puts together. We’re often told that Jude has a confidence that shows through in the way he walks, stands, and talks and his outfits reflect that.

Jasmine is my thirteen year old fashionista. She is the one her friends trust when it comes to new trends and styles in fashion.
JCP15

She can put together the best outfits and look “totes adorb” in everything she finds. With her starting her last year in middle school (eighth grade), she really wanted to set herself apart and we started shopping in the junior section at JCPenney to find the right looks for her!

All of those outfits are “totes adorb”! 😉 I always associated JCPenney with having outdated or senior citizen looks. Seems I need to reevaluate that! LOL

I see models in your future!! Adorable pictures. My son wears a uniform, so it doesn’t take us that long to shop, which is good! Great post!
