10 Creative Elf On The Shelf Ideas

What is this Elf On The Shelf that all of you speak of?! Why has it been such a household name for Christmas next to Reindeer, Santa, oh and, Olaf. Hahaha. Okay, maybe not so much Olaf.

In case you don’t feel like reading all of the below, here’s the YouTube video:

The Elf on the Shelf®: A Christmas Tradition includes a special scout elf sent from the North Pole to help Santa Claus manage his naughty and nice lists. When a family adopts a scout elf and gives it a name, the scout elf receives its Christmas magic and can fly to the North Pole each night to tell Santa Claus about all of the day’s adventures. Each morning, the scout elf returns to its family and perches in a different place to watch the fun. Children love to wake up and race around the house looking for their scout elf each morning.

So…it looks all cute but honestly, I’m a little freaked out about the thought of a tiny little scout elf watching me…or is that just me that feels this way??? Honestly, I’m sure it’s a lot of fun and it does force parents to get creative on ways to get the kids up and active, while spending quality time together. But let’s not forget that this is only a very small piece of the bigger picture of what Christmas is really all about. Don’t lose sight of what’s really most important around you. I can honestly say that Elf On The Shelf is a great way to show the kids that you care, because you took the time out to think of them by participating in these Elf On The Shelf shenanigans. I’m telling myself this because watch me want to think up MORE ways to position your elf. Here’s the deal — we’ve had a ton of requests to feature The It Mom’s take on Elf On The Shelf ideas so we said okay fiiiiiine…Enjoy!

Oh, and you can buy Elf On The Shelf on Amazon for $29.95. You welcome.

I think the elf on the shelf is a cute idea..I just have a small problem. Since as far back as I can remember I have been terrified of these things. It might simply be that my grandmother collected dolls and some of them were terrifying. Especially her baby genius doll, it’s eyes followed you no matter where you went
