Set aside specific hours for technology use.  We are attached to our smartphones, laptops, tablets and gamin systems far too often.  Since you are staying close to home, or at home even, it can be an easy trap to grab that device to occupy your time.  Grab a basket or tote and have everyone put their electronics in it.  Only allow them out during specific times each day.  Spend this time focused on each other rather than what is on the screen.

Contact your local chamber of commerce as well as the ones in nearby cities or your state capital.  If you are uncertain where to begin with adventures in your home town or local area, simply contact the city or county chamber of commerce.  They will almost always have brochures, pamphlets or other useful information about things in your area you may have overlooked.  They also have great discounts and coupons for area attractions that you may be able to take advantage of.

Make a plan, but leave it flexible.  Don’t go too relaxed, but understand that things like health, weather or even cost can make your plans change at the last minute.  Set aside a small handful of things you really want to focus on doing or seeing, then add in other fun ideas as you can.  Don’t pack too much into this time or you will end up feeling exhausted.

Listen to your kids and spouse.  Above all else, make sure that you are asking and listening to the other people in your family.  Whether it is their opinion on where to eat, or how many hours of TV time will be allowed, everyone has an opinion to be considered during your staycation.

These are simple steps that are easily put into practice.  No matter where you live, this Spring Break Staycation Planner is sure to keep you on the right track.  Enjoy the fun time with your family while not sacrificing funds or comfort!

I appreciate the idea of reducing electronic device usage. However, I need to navigate myself to the right direction and that needs phone since I’m bad at reading maps.
