How to sell digital goods online

It’s 2017 now and we’re seeing a massive market online! Selling digital goods is one of the fastest growing industries and is undeniably one of the easiest ways to start working from home. There are hundreds of ways to sell digital goods online, but today we’ll talk about some of the easiest to get started and the most successful! If you think that you’d have nothing to sell online, keep reading, because there’s something for everyone!

1. Cookbooks.

That’s right – cookbooks! You can easily turn your favorite original family recipes into a digital cookbook (ebook) for others to purchase and download! Make sure you have nice, bright photos to make it appealing though because in the food world – photography is key! Even if you don’t charge a ton for your cookbook, you could make a nice side income with this!

2. Art.

Printable art is totally in right now! If you’re artistic and creative, you could easily start your own business to sell digital goods via Etsy or Facebook. Digital downloads are hot on Etsy and if you have great designs and knowledge of how SEO (search engine optimization) works – you can rock this business! If you don’t know much about SEO but are interested in this anyway, do some research online to find out best practices for selling on Etsy to help you jumpstart your business!

3. Courses.

Courses are hot right now too! If you’re an expert in something, you can likely market a course to help people learn that skill or information. There are courses on all kinds of topics including sewing, hand lettering, blogging, budgeting, meditating, and more! No matter what it is – if you have knowledge about something you can teach to people, you can sell digital goods related to it in the form of courses! Places like Teachable make it easy to create courses for those who don’t want to start a whole blog based on their course.

4. Patterns.

Are you an avid crafter who can sew, knit, crochet, or quilt? Consider selling your patterns online! Between Ravelry and Etsy, you can easily sell your patterns! The nice thing about selling patterns is you just have to create them once and list them for sale. After that, they can act as passive income because you don’t have to do much in terms of after-sale stuff!

5. Design and/or consultations.

If you’re skilled in graphic design, you can help other business owners who sell digital goods (or otherwise) by helping them create a brand. Creating a brand involves much more than just a logo, including brand colors, brand vision, business cards, and more! If you like graphic design, this is a great way to get started online. If you aren’t one to design but you have experience with branding, you could provide consultations to people looking to strengthen their brand and online identity and help them in the right direction for their launch and continued success! There’s a huge market for this!

There are of course many more ways to sell digital goods online, but these are some of the most popular and easy to get started with! If you were to sell digital goods, what would you sell? Let us know in the comments below!

I have thought about doing doodles and coloring pages for sale. I have about 20 so far and people seem to really like them. Thanks for the little push.

Overall, I wish you luck in selling your digital products online. It can be a rather rewarding experience, and in general, digital products take more time than money to produce. Therefore, you can spend more time developing new products as opposed to worrying about the costs of goods and things like that.
