Making cookies with my kids is one of those holiday memories that I hope they’ll have forever. We have fun, make a mess, and end up with some yummy cookies – what could be better than that!? These Holiday Monster Cookies are perfect for making with kids. Younger kids will love helping to measure out the oats and the M&M’s and older kids can mix and help shape the cookies.
I am not totally sure, but I think they are called monster cookies because they have a little bit of everything in them. They are not peanut butter cookies, not oatmeal cookies, and not chocolate chip cookies – but they have all of those things in them! Whatever the reasoning behind the name, these Holiday Monster Cookies are a winner in my book.

1 ½ C. creamy peanut butter
1 C. sugar
1 C. brown sugar
½ C. butter or margarine, softened
1 tbs. sour cream
½ tsp. vanilla extract
4 ½ C. rolled oats (not quick cooking)
2 tsp. baking soda
1 C. chocolate chips (I used mini in this recipe)
1 C. red & green holiday M&M’s
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl combine the creamy peanut butter, sugar, brown sugar, butter, sour cream, vanilla and eggs. Mix well. Add in the 2 tsp. of baking soda.
Slowly fold in your 4 ½ C. of rolled oats, mixing well.
Next add in your 1 cup of chocolate chips and ¾ of the Holiday M&M’s.
Drop by large tablespoon onto a cookie sheet and gently press down into a more rounded shape. Press some of your extra M&M’s into the top of the cookie dough.
Bake for 10-12 minutes. Cookies will turn golden brown. Try not to over bake, because they are even better if they are a little bit under cooked and not crunchy.
*Makes approximately 3 dozen cookies. Store in an airtight container 1-2 weeks. These cookies also freeze well.
